This week, show us how variety contributes to the diversity around you.
This year I learned how to cook. Don’t get me wrong, I learned long ago how to boil water, and get that KD cheese consistency just right. But this year I wanted to do more. From making the mystical Turducken for Thanksgiving to the Beef Wellington on that special occasion to that Baked Alaska for a certain someone’s birthday, food has always played an important role in my life no matter how simple or difficult the recipe. What I’ve learned throughout my “cooking experience” is that no matter the recipe, it is the variety of ingredients that make that special dish what it is. To go from that Kraft Singles and Wonderbread grilled cheese sandwich to a more elevated dish requires a variety of ingredients that while alone may not taste great but together in a dish perform an amazing symphony for your taste buds. And that’s what this weeks prompt is all about, thinking about how variety adds something to your world and contributes to the diversity around you.
For this week’s challenge, I made a trip to the grocery store to pick up a variety of ingredients to craft the next new dish I found online. Take a moment to explore variety, and think about how it adds to the diversity in your life, and in your community. Good luck! Make sure you use the hashtag #PEBvariety, #PEB17 and #PEBYVR.
